They left San Francisco with loaded-up bikes.

The first night, they camped with friends in California.

Pretty!

epic-motorcycle-journey-1773-orig.jpg

They moved on to Oregon quickly.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1774-orig.jpg

They took the scenic route, passing gorgeous scenery like Crater Lake in Oregon.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1728-orig.jpg

Incredible views!

epic-motorcycle-journey-1729-orig.jpg

They stopped to climb the beautiful Smith Rock.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1731-orig.jpg

And worked their way to Portland.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1730-orig.jpg

In Washington State, they took a lot of ferries.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1733-orig.jpg

In Washington State, they enjoyed the amazing Olympic National Park.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1732-orig.jpg

Where they met local wildlife and made friends.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1735-orig.jpg

They went on a lot of hikes on their trip, including this one to Hurricane Ridge in Washington State.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1734-orig.jpg

On their hike, they could see Canada, where they would be heading soon.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1736-orig.jpg

On the trip north, they sometimes road with other drivers who would pull wheelies for hundreds of meters.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1737-orig.jpg

They made it to Vancouver, which they loved.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1738-orig.jpg

After having a great time in Vancouver, they continued their journey North.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1740-orig.jpg

After passing through the mountains, they got to the prairie of British Columbia.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1741-orig.jpg

Sometimes they camped in funny places, like this cow pasture!

epic-motorcycle-journey-1742-orig.jpg

But luckily there was a fence that kept the cows away.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1743-orig.jpg

As they moved North, they saw their first glacier, just south of the Yukon.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1745-orig.jpg

They met other riders along the way, such as this man who had ridden up all the way from Bolivia.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1744-orig.jpg

They drove late some nights and saw long, surreal sunsets in boreal forests.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1746-orig.jpg

On the way, they would sometimes stop for motorcycle maintenance in parking lots, like in this Walmart.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1747-orig.jpg

As they continued North, they got to the small town of Skagway, Alaska.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1748-orig.jpg

Skagway was beautiful.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1749-orig.jpg

Continuing out of the Yukon, they saw amazing views and "had rainbows for days."

epic-motorcycle-journey-1750-orig.jpg

They camped for one night with some new Alaska friends, then continued further North.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1752-orig.jpg

On the road, they stopped for a photo opp.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1751-orig.jpg

To cross the Yukon River, they took a ferry that runs 24/7. They are no wayyy North, but not yet in the Arctic.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1753-orig.jpg

Next, they took the "Top of the World Highway," which is actually made of dirt.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1754-orig.jpg

Where you make it to Alaska.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1755-orig.jpg

The roads got pretty yucky with a lot of rocks and mud.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1756-orig.jpg

They stopped at Denali National Park, which was breathtaking.

This is the view at 1 am!

epic-motorcycle-journey-1757-orig.jpg

They went on a dangerous road, which only had 1 gas stop for 500 miles.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1759-orig.jpg

Finally, they made it to the Arctic Circle!

epic-motorcycle-journey-1762-orig.jpg

They saw a guy who was walking North. Yes, walking!

epic-motorcycle-journey-1761-orig.jpg

As they went over the mountains, the trees just vanished.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1763-orig.jpg

There was very little vegetation, and they shared the road with speeding trucks who left clouds of dust.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1764-orig.jpg

They made it to the Prudhoe Bay oilfield and Deadhorse outpost.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1766-orig.jpg

It is a massive oil field, and the main things they saw were machinery and workers.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1765-orig.jpg

They turned back to head home and hit a storm. The road naturally became pretty nasty.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1767-orig.jpg

As they got close to the pass, things got incredibly beautiful.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1768-orig.jpg

Caliform says it was the most beautiful place he has ever been.

epic-motorcycle-journey-1769-orig.jpg

The trip was 11,000 or so miles in total. They literally went to the end of the road and back!
