They noticed a disturbance in the creek, so they approached with caution.

Incredibly, it was a very sad dog who was alone and stuck in the water, with no owner in site.

Was it wild or a lost domestic dog? They proceeded with caution.

They got a big stick to protect themselves, just in case, and proceeded to attempt to rescue the dog.

They tied a rope gently around the dog and were able to pull the dog out of the water. Once out, they realized she was a domestic dog, clearly lost.

To get her out of the water, they had to secure ropes to various trees since she was heavy and they needed support.

Once out of the water, she tried to hide and escape. The rescuers did not give up however.

She was nervous and exhausted, so they tried to comfort her.

They decided to make a makeshift harness to carry her out of the forest, since she wasn't going to be able to walk out.

They were pleased that she fit into the bag.

She was heavy, though, and it would take two people to carry her on the rough terrain.

They didn't give up!

It was a massive effort to climb out of the forest with the dog in tow.

Once out of the woods, they walked along the road to get to their car.

She was holding up well so far.

Safely in the car, she became all smiles!

She started relaxing. She must have known she would be safe.

They gave her dinner and worked on finding her owner. Incredibly, they got a reply 30 minutes after posting to a local lost dogs group on Facebook!

The dog had been lost for one whole month!! She was happily reunited with her owner.

Here’s the story of Kingsley, who was found in a sad state but whose story was turned around and who got adopted.

After they shaved his matted hair, they found numerous wounds, and had clearly been abused.

Once he was shaved and cleaned, you could see how skinny and afraid he was. He was afraid of most people.

In the first month, the new owner had to help the dog with so many things since he wasn’t used to normal domesticated family life.

After a month and a half, he mastered common dog skills, such as potty training, cuddling, and playing fetch.

He’s come such a long way and everyone is so grateful. Cheers to a successful rescue story.
