Here's the completed theater down below. It just needed a secret staircase to make it even cooler.

Above the dungeon theater, he marked off a corner in the living room for the hidden staircase.

He decided to make a bench seat to hide the staircase that he would build.

He laid out the uncut wood to work on the bench dimensions.

Next, he cut the wood and made sure that the new bench would be big enough without dominating the room.

For the seat, it only cost $25 in foam and fabric.

Next, he added hinges

To cover up the hinges, he added vertical panels.

After checking the placement of the hole and of the supports, he made his first cut.

Three more cuts and he had a hole.

Next, he cut the hardwood for the new joists.

He placed the brackets, which he would paint to look more metallic.

It looked great so he painted the inside of the cut floorboards, too.

It looks like a portal!

He framed it and finished painting. Next, he'd make the staircase.

He bought a new handsaw, which made all the difference when cutting.

Stairs on! In addition to the notches, the stairs are held on by multiple heavy duty screws.

He gave it a quick clean before putting it all together.

Here's the final bench seat in the living room.

Looks pretty innocent, doesn't it?

He kept the project a secret from a lot of his family and friends, so he was really looking forward to surprising them.

Step 1: take the cushions off the bench.

Step 2: lift the lid. (There's a locking mechanism to hold up the lid).

Looking into the hole..

Step 3: pull the door the rest of the way open, and see the staircase.

He offset the stairs to give people more room to step off the ladder and enter the dungeon.

Heading down...check out the room below.

A view of the dungeon theater from the stairs. Cool!

The stairs are visible, but they don't cover the screen.

If he leaves the top open, the stairwell acts as a bit of a skylight of sorts.
